The St. Augustine Drug Abatement Response Team (DART) Program

The St. Augustine Drug Abatement Team (DART) Program was formed to combat illegal drugs in St. Augustine by supplementing the traditional approach to solving the drug problem. The focus is on the property where drug activity flourishes.

In 1996 the St. Augustine Police Department took a bold step in the fight against nuisance properties by implementing a Federally funded grant program called DART (Drug Abatement Response Team). The DART program's ultimate goal is to ensure that properties in St. Augustine / St. Johns County are an asset to the community and not a liability, that are used to enhance, not diminish, our quality of life.

Since the inception of the DART program, this agency, combined with the efforts of Code Enforcement Agencies, Police Department / Sheriff's Office, the States Attorney's Office and several other government and private agencies, more than sixty seven DART's have been conducted on nuisance properties located throughout St.Augustine / St. Johns County.
