The City of St. Augustine is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

  Full-Time Positions:

Utility Worker, Transmission & Distribution
Physical labor involving assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repairs of water, sewer and storm systems. Works with variety of tools/equipment. FL drivers license class B CDL permit required prior to hire. Completion of 10th grade, background check and drug screen required. HS diploma preferred.

Electrical/Mechanical Technician
Performs maintenance and repair of equipment and systems within the City's buildings, parking facility and on-street metering systems.  Work may include, but not limited to, electrical wiring and systems, replacing and repairing HVAC equipment, pumps, gates, belts, lights, motors, air compressors, and related equipment.  Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays or on call as needed.  High school diploma and three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or mechanical equipment required.  Valid Class E Florida Driver's license required.  Journeyman license in mechanical and/or electrical area or higher level desired.

Maintenance Mechanic
Responsible for the performance of a variety of repairs in several of the skilled trades.  Work at this level may include, but not limited to, replacing and repairing plumbing fixtures, maintaining and repairing steam boilers, HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, water softeners, air compressors, and related equipment.

Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, etc. when required.  Installs, maintains and repairs electrical motors, generators and related electrical and mechanical equipment and components within building structures. Installs, maintains and repairs valves, sinks, wash bowls, sewers and sanitary fixtures.  May perform a variety of brick, cement and carpentry work.

Performs electric and acetylene welding and brazing. Maintains and repairs heating, air conditioning and ventilation equipment. Must be capable of operating computerized HVAC system. Operates power laths, drill presses, threading machines and grinding machines.

High school diploma required and three (3) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing or mechan­ical equipment.  Good physical condition.  Journeyman license in mechanical and/or electrical area or higher level desired.  Valid Florida Driver's License required.

 

  Part-Time Positions:

Gift Shop Clerk
Cashier, sales, and clerical work at City gift shops.  Excellent customer service skills, HS diploma, experience in retail sales and/or gift shop operations, background check, and physical required. Includes weekends and holidays. 

  Civil Service:

Firefighter
Currently accepting applications for firefighter. Starting salary is $37,009.76. High school diploma required.  Must have successfully completed Tri-County Test for fire fighter within the 12 months prior to application and possession of State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training Certificate of Compliance and a minimum of State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician Certification is required. Extensive background, physical and drug screen required.
