CommissionThe St. Augustine City Commission is the elected governing body of the city. Of the five commissioners, four serve 4-year terms and one serves a 2-year term. Every two years, city elections are held for two of the 4-year seats and the 2-year seat. The Mayor of St. Augustine is the official head of the city government and presides at all commission meetings and other official city functions. The mayor serves a 2 year term and is elected by popular vote. Any incumbent commissioner or qualified candidate for the commission may choose to be a candidate for mayor also. The St. Augustine City Commission meets at 5:00pm on the second and fourth Monday of each month in The Alcazar Room, City Hall, 75 King St. |

Joseph L. Boles - Mayor/Commissioner Commissioner Boles, a native of North Carolina, moved to St. Augustine with his parents in 1967. A graduate of St. Augustine High School, he attended the University of Florida where he obtained a Bachelor of Design and Advertising degree and a law degree. He was admitted to practice in 1984, and his areas of interest are elder law, asset protection, estates and trusts, business law and family law. Mr. Boles served as chairman of the citys Planning and Zoning Board during the development of the citys Comprehensive Land Use Plan and currently serves on the boards of the St. Johns County Council on Aging, St. Johns County Welfare Federation and the Buckingham Smith Benevolent Association. |

Don Crichlow - Vice Mayor/Commissioner Office Hours: Commissioner Crichlow is a former chairman of the Citys Planning and Zoning Board and of the St. Johns County Code Enforcement Board. Mr. Crichlow, a native of St. Augustine, is a graduate of St. Josephs Academy High School in St. Augustine and holds a Bachelors of Architecture degree from the University of Florida. His community involvement includes the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum Board of Trustees, the Knights of Columbus, the Cathedral Parish Council and the St. Gerard Campus Board of Directors. Mr. Crichlow is an architect with Don Crichlow and Associates.

Susan Burk - Commissioner Office Hours: Commissioner Burk was first elected in 1996 and has been subsequently reelected. She holds a Bachelors of Science degree from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and a law degree from the Stetson School of Law. A native of Rockford, Illinois, Ms. Burk has lived in St. Augustine since 1962. A member of St. Augustine Rotary Club and a past member of American Business Women, Ms. Burk is also a former real estate broker. Ms. Burk is an attorney in the firm of Freeman and Burk, Attorneys at Law.

Errol D. Jones - Commissioner Office Hours: Commissioner Jones, a native of St. Augustine and graduate of Richard J. Murray High School, holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in political science from Florida A&M University and a Masters Degree in social work from Adelphi University. Mr. Jones is a member of the First Baptist Church. His community involvement includes Community Hospice of N. E. Florida, Boys and Girls Club, Sunrise Rotary, president of the Fort Mose Historical Society and Past Exalter Ruler of the Fountain of Youth Elks Lodge #649. Mr. Jones is social worker with the St. Johns county School District and an adjunct professor of sociology at Bethune-Cookman College, Daytona Beach. |

George Gardner - Commissioner Mailing address: 57 Fullerwood Dr., 32084 Office Hours: Commissioner Gardner is immediate past mayor, a former chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board and former member of the Municipal Code Enforcement Board. A native of Schenectady, NY, he has lived in the City since 1988, holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester, NY, and is a US Navy veteran. Mr. Gardner has served as chairman of St. Augustine's annual Christmas parade, is a former president of the Historic St. Augustine Area Council and was involved in the City's 1994 Vision Planning Project and Heritage Tourism Sign Program. Mr. Gardner is a Realtor (inactive).
