CodeRed

CodeRed is a high-speed telephone emergency notification service capable of sending out pre-recorded emergency message to 1,000 phones a minute.

Initiated by the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, residents are notified of public safety issues by the CodeRed system. Other agencies, including the St. Augustine Police Department and St. Augustine Fire Department are participants in the system and take full advantage of its features.

CodeRed is a geographical based notification system so that the appropriate city or county department can choose a specific area to be notified in the event of an emergency. Those events may include gas leaks, fires, dangerous water conditions, water safety alerts, missing children, evacuation notice and routes, neighborhood Crime Watch support, sexual predator alert, and utility outages just to name a few of the examples for its use.
