NOTICE TO ALL CONTRACTORS, ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS,
OWNER BUILDERS AND ALL OTHERS APPLYING FOR PERMITS.
The 2004 Edition of the Florida Building Code became effective July 1, 2005. Permit applications submitted after that date must demonstrate compliance with the new code.
All projects with permits issued prior to July 1, 2005, will be inspected pursuant to the 2001 Edition of the Florida Building Code.
Since the 2004 Edition of the Florida Building Code is based on the International Codes model significant changes have been made to both the Florida Residential Code and the Florida Building Code. It is important to be familiar with the changes in order to achieve compliance.
Code books may be obtained through the International Code Council at www.iccsafe.org or from the Building Code Information System at www.floridabuilding.org . Code Books may also be purchased through the Building Officials Association of Florida at www.boaf.net
