Patterson Jones, a 19 year veteran employee of the City was recently named the City of St. Augustine’s 2003 Employee of the Year. City Manager Bill Harriss made the presentation last month before several hundred City employees.
Pat began working for the city in 1984 as a part-time employee in the Solid Waste Division, moving into a full-time position in 1989 where he is currently employed.
"Long recognized for his infectious enthusiasm and incredible spirit, over the years Pat has consistently demonstrated a thorough knowledge of his work, exceptional ability and a sincere devotion to duty," wrote Bill Harding, Director of Public Works Department when he made the nomination to the selection committee.
Pat's immediate supervisor, Charlie Hill, who heads up the Solid Waste Division, said that "Pat’s honesty and integrity and constant positive attitude sets a standard for all employees to emulate." Hill has been Jones’ supervisor for over 15 years.
A native of St. Augustine, Pat attended Webster Elementary, Ketterlinus Middle School and St. Augustine High School and is a active member of the Church of God in Christ. He is married with three children.
By working with the City, Pat is following an example set by his father who retired from the city after 20 years as a concrete mason.
When not working a shift for the city, Pat enjoys spending time with his family in his off hours.
Congratulations to Patterson Jones, the City of St. Augustine's 2003 Employee of the Year.
