Working for the City of St. Augustine for the past six years, Scott Graham, Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Administrator, was recently named the City of St. Augustine’s 2008 Employee of the Year.
“Scott is an exemplary employee in all aspects of his professional performance in his relationships with all levels the organization,” wrote Mark Litzinger, city Comptroller and Scott’s supervisor, in the letter nominating Scott for the award. “Scott is loyal, dependable and is constantly striving to make improvements within the city’s IT infrastructure and sets his standards above those expectations set by the city.”
A graduate from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, Scott began his studies in marketing and later accounting which included a vast amount of computer work. It was then that Scott discovered his knack for information technology and so changed his major and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Information Systems.
Scott’s hobbies tend to be similar to his work. When he gets home he immediately turns on his computer. The main difference the time at the keyboard at home and at the office is that at home Scott works on “...the fun stuff.”
But work is also enjoyable for Scott in large part because of the wide range of tasks before him each day. “I like the variety of jobs and working in different departments with different people,” said Scott.
An Orlando native, moving to St. Augustine when he was four years old, and a 19th generation Floridian, Scott grew up just block away from the beach at St. Augustine Beach. He surfed some but says he ‘moved on’ unlike some of his friends. Scott is married to Mollie Malloy, Deputy Director of Development at the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum.
The award was presented at the City’s annual service award presentation. In addition to Scott there were seven others nominated by their departments for the Employee of the Year. They were: Wanda Bray, Public Affairs Department, JoLinda Brown, Fire Department, Dianne Jacobs, General Services Department, Alyse Mae, Heritage Tourism Department, Noel Mahr, Planning & Building Department, and Albert Shorkey, Public Works Department. All total, the city presented service awards to over 50 employees representing over 650 years of service to the people of St. Augustine.
