As with most all governmental bodies, the City of St. Augustine went through the process of finalizing and adopting its budget for the coming fiscal year which starts October 1.
An essential part of that process was the two public hearings where the budget was discussed by the Commission and the public invited to comment on the proposals before it is officially adopted. Those public hearings were on Thursday, September 6 and Thursday, September 20 with passage of the final budget at the regular City Commission meeting held September 24.
Review the Budget
The city’s entire budget includes seven separate funds. Only the General Fund is supported by property (ad valorem) taxes and fire assessment fees. The other funds are all enterprise, or proprietary funds meaning that they are funded through service fees and must be financially self-supporting.
