The Department of Public Affairs assists organizations in their events when public property is utilized and manages the special events produced by the city. Permits for the use of public property, for film productions, parades or festivals as well as weddings when public property is utilized may be obtained through this office. In addition, the department acts as the primary point of contact for the media with regards to city government activities and maintains the city Web site.

InSight - The City’s Department of Public Affairs launched InSight, a quarterly newsletter with one simple goal: to provide timely and accurate information to the residents and taxpayers of the city. A quarterly newsletter, InSight is inserted into invoices of the city's approximately 13,000 utility customers.
News and Notes - Created in 2004 at the request of residents who wanted city commission and city board agendas, the Friday weekly email to residents and businesses in the City has since grown. It now includes not only agendas but activities which may cause traffic interruptions, openings of city sponsored events, news releases and important and timely information.
The St. Augustine Report - Published by the City of St. Augustine since February 2009 and sent each Tuesday and on Fridays The St. Augustine Report previews City Commission meetings. It is written and distributed by George Gardner, former St. Augustine Mayor (2002-2006) and Commissioner (2006-2008) and a longtime newspaper reporter and editor.
