Current Board Vacancies

Planning and Zoning Board

The City Commission of the city of St. Augustine is currently accepting applications to fill two (2) term expirations on the Planning & Zoning Board. Term-length is three years, expiring September 30, 2017.

Board meets monthly. Interested individuals who reside within the city limits of the City of St. Augustine are invited to submit applications for this volunteer board.

Qualifications

All members of the Planning and Zoning Board shall reside in the city and shall hold no government office nor receive any salary or compensation for their services to the board herein created. No member shall be appointed for more than two (2) consecutive full terms.

Member composition: architect, Florida registered; planner member APA or AICP; real estate broker, with County occupational license; educator, college level; engineer, Florida registered; landscape architect Florida registered; preservation organization officer; environmental or land use organization officer; attorney, Florida Bar; merchant/business person, City occupational license; or contractor, City contractor’s license.

Applications must be received in the clerk’s office not later than Friday, September 12, 2015 at 5:00pm. Appointment will be made at the commission meeting of September 22, 2014.

The city's advisory boards and committees play an important role in the operations of the City of St. Augustine. Unlike the Commission, members of these bodies are appointed, not elected. Some of the boards and committees require members to meet specific qualifications, such as residency in the city, or have a specific area of expertise. But while each body differs in its area of responsibility and requirements for appointment, they all have one common requirement: they depend on citizens willing to serve their city.

The advisory boards and committees are subject to the State of Florida "Sunshine Law." and all meetings are advertised and open to the public.

Presentations before city boards or committees

Presentations to be made before city boards must be approved by the staff responsible for that meeting’s agenda preparation and received at least 48 hours prior to the  meeting. A Presentation Support Services Request form, completed, must accompany the presentation when submitted to the appropriate staff. Presentations not submitted within the designated deadline are likely not to be incorporated into a meeting’s agenda. Presentation material becomes part of the official and public record of the meeting and will not be returned following the meeting.
