The St. Augustine Fire Department has a new fire and life safety inspection program. We are now allowing low risk occupancy businesses to complete a self-inspection of their property. *Low risk occupancies include offices, small businesses and stores.
Participation in this program will allow the redistribution of our inspection staffing to larger, higher risk occupancies, improve the safety of our community and alleviate the need for additional staffing. In addition, this inspection can be completed at the convenience of the business owner.
As a business owner or manager, you may complete the ‘Self Inspection Worksheet’ which will guide you through a safety inspection of your business. Each item on the worksheet has a corresponding description which will assist you in your self inspection. Just print out the directions for self inspection worksheet and the worksheet to complete and you are ready to begin your self inspection.

Please check a box on each line as either a ‘violation’ or ‘no violation’. If the item does not apply to your business, check ‘no violation’ and enter ‘does not apply’ or ‘N/A’ under the date corrected column.
Violations or discrepancies that you discover are to be corrected and the date of correction noted on the worksheet. If the correction cannot be completed at the time of the self-inspection, indicate the estimated date of correction and mail the worksheet to:
St. Augustine Fire Department
Attn: Fire Marshal
101 Malaga Street
St. Augustine, FL 32084
As our goal is to improve community fire safety, no citations will be issued relative to violations discovered and noted. However, random businesses may be selected monthly for inspection by a Firesafety Inspector.
